Proposals to the legislature

1. In 2023, at the initiative of the Association of Business Immigrants and Investors, the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania initiated an amendment to Article 45 of the Legal Status of Foreigners of the Republic of Lithuania, which would allow the employment of workers with temporary residence permits in Lithuania.

2. In 2022, Article 53 of the Law on the Legal Status of Foreigners was initiated and adopted by the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania at the initiative of the Association of Business Immigrants and Investors. Amendment 10 of the law, according to which, in exceptional cases, the duration of the business trip is not included in the specified travel period. This change allows business immigrants to leave Lithuania for a longer period of time on work assignments to work or study, when their permanent place of residence is in Lithuania.

3. In 2021, at Business Immigrants and Investors initiative the amendment of Article 45, Part 1 of the Law on the Legal Status of Aliens of the Republic of Lithuania was initiated, changing the provision on the mandatory employment of employees for two average wages. We propose to change this provision so that the employee is paid not 2 average wages but 1.5 average wages.
